Webinar Scope:
Our webinar delved into the crucial topic of U-space, with a focus on the implementation of UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) Systems and services in European Union member states within the aviation industry and civil aviation sector. The session addressed a range of critical questions from technical, financial, and regulatory perspectives, aiming to provide a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities in the U-space landscape.
Speaker Lineup:
Andrew Hately: Andrew is a senior researcher in the Drone unit at the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub. He brought his expertise to the webinar, shedding light on the outstanding technical and regulatory challenges within the U-space domain.
Billy Josefsson: Billy, from LFV, an air navigation service provider, focused on topics such as UAM/AAM, Automation, AI support for operations, and safety & risk assessment related to new technology. His insights revolved around harmonizing UAM/AAM solutions across EU member states and the role of CIS and USSP.
Stephane Vaubourg: As the U-space Project Manager at EASA, Stephane shared valuable insights into the rollout of U-space, starting with the certification of UISSP and CIS service providers, a crucial aspect of U-space development.
Mikael Shamim: Mikael, CEO of Helicus, provided a unique perspective on drone services in healthcare transport within U-space and scaled operations. His insights were particularly relevant in the context of the growing demand for medical drone services.
Amit Ganjoo: Amit, the Founder and CEO of ANRA Technologies, drew on his background in aviation, robotics, and communication to address the technology provider’s point of view as a USSP and CISP. His insights were invaluable in understanding the technological aspects of U-space.
Koen De Vos: Koen, the Secretary General for GUTMA, focussed in the need for harmonization, evolution of business cases and the technological and regulatory chnages required to make all this a reality.
Phillip Butterworth-Hayes: Phillip expertly moderated the session, ensuring a smooth flow of discussions and facilitating an engaging and informative conversation among the panelists.
